Authorities in military-ruled Burma have detained two politicalleaders from the Shan ethnic minority.
Sources close to the two men say police took Chairman Khun Htun Oo and General Secretary Sai Nyunt Lwin of the Shan Nationalities League for Democracy from their homes in Rangoon on Wednesday.
The reason for the detentions is not known.
The SNLD is one of three legal political parties that boycotted the government's constitution-drafting National Convention, which began last May.
The party joined main opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's National league for Democracy and a small group representing the Kokang minority in the boycott.
The NLD sat out the meeting because Aung San Suu Kyi is under house arrest, and it believes the proceedings are undemocratic.
